Long Standing Service & Christmas Carol Service
The most lovely afternoon began with Mrs Gilmour playing the piano to set the mood as visitors, families and friends arrived for the KS2 Carol Service. We welcomed governors and the Mayor of Garstang to take part in the service alongside our most longstanding Chair of Governors, Mr Rydeard.
The children sang the most traditional carols celebrating the birth of Jesus and they read beautifully. With solos and children speaking the readings from memory, the church was calm and people were connected with Christ at the centre. After the Carol Service ended with us all singing ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, we continued with our school band and choir children performing- with some audience participation-including, friend of the school, Mayor of Garstang Cllr Michael Halford, who played his part representing the three French hens, during our 12 days of Christmas performance!
It was a lovely service and a fitting way to say goodbye to Mr. Rydeard. A huge thank you to Mr. Rydeard for his years of service and support for the school and the community – we wish him all the best and he is always welcome back at St. Mary’s to see us all!
