We had the best time on Saturday at the Catterall float.
The day started with quite a bit of hilarity (at my expense) when Mrs Byrne and I met at the car park ready to walk to the float. The field was too wet to park so we parked at the Pattinson’s house to have a leisurely start to the day. Well, I don’t think so! Seemingly, Mrs Byrne didn’t get the memo that staff would be dressing up – I, on the other hand, presumed this is obviously the case and I arrived in what I can only describe as a full Mr Man costume. When Mrs Byrne saw me get out of my car, she found it hilarious because not even the children were arriving in costumes before the float started and we had a bit of a way to walk before we got to the float parking destination!
As luck would have it, Mr Milner was passing by in the tractor driving our float and I flagged him down to save walking down a long road dressed as Little Miss Naughty (the only large adult costume I could find)! Mrs Byrne loaded her cargo of three small children and off we went travelling in style with lots of passers-by waving and beeping car horns!
The previous weekend held the Garstang floats – one in the morning and one in the evening and we came second place for that – wow and well done!
For the Catterall event, we won first place for motorised float – a super end to a super day!
Thank you so much to the Friends of Claughton for building, creating and supporting the school float. The time and effort that goes into this is very much appreciated. Thank you to the tractor drivers and all parents, staff and children who gave their time on both weekends to represent school and provide a lovely experience for the children..
