Parliament Week 2024

St. Mary’s welcomed the Mayor of Garstang for an afternoon assembly with the whole school, looking at Parliament roles and responsibilities; the children even got to try on the chains! Mr. Halford even had tome to be our next ‘secret reader’ for the children in Acorns Class (Pre-School & Reception) reading Julia Donaldson’s ‘Zog’, doing a wonderful job.  A big thank you to Mr. Halford for inspiring the children, it was lovely to show him our lovely school – and we look forward to welcoming him back at Christmas! The Mayor had this to say about his visit, “An absolute pleasure today to visit St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Claughton-on-Brock . I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to talk to the children about Parliament and Local Government. (Hopefully they found it interesting!) The children asked plenty of questions, there was only one I couldn’t answer directly, but Google came to my rescue. (Why are the House of Lords seats red and the House of Commons seats green?) Thank you for your hospitality. The enthusiasm of the children and dedication of the teachers was in abundance.

We look forward to welcoming the Mayor of Garstang back to our Christmas concert next month!
