I have been updating the entrance to school with pictures of our governors and school council and I have to say that I was disappointed to find that I had filled up all of the board.

In all my years of teaching, I have tried many strategies to encourage reading and a love of books-especially with children just starting to engage with phonics and it seems that all you need is a ‘reading dog’ to encourage small children to read! Yes, Bruce (who seems to only cone for a nap!) is a member of our team and he is doing a very good job. It isn’t a problem that he visits to have a sleep on the cushion because the children in Reception Class love reading to him and they take it very seriously indeed. I absolutely love the idea by Mrs Bryne and I really love the snuggle sacks that are sent home with the children. We seem to have another dog, with a particular flare for reading, and he too will be joining our team in the new year. I must buy another staff picture display board!

I am sure you will smile when you see the pictures below…
