This half term has been filled with so many special moments that reflect the heart of our school community.
One of the most important highlights was our May Procession with our local church, St. Thomas’s. This is a long-standing Catholic tradition, and it was wonderful to see the children take part with such reverence and joy. They sang beautifully and presented flowers to Mary, reminding us of the importance of faith in our daily lives and the strong connection we share with our parish community.
We were also delighted to welcome local artist and former governor, Steve Watt, into school. Steve worked with the children to develop their drawing and painting techniques, sharing his expertise and passion for art. It was a real pleasure to have him with us, and the children produced some fantastic work as a result.
Another memorable experience came when Wild Man John visited, bringing with him an amazing range of animals. From giant cockroaches to snakes, the children were fascinated—and very brave! These hands-on experiences are always a great way to spark curiosity and deepen learning.
Adding to this, we even had a pony visit school, giving the children the opportunity to learn about caring for animals and understanding responsibility in a practical and engaging way. It was especially lovely to see our youngest children showing such maturity and responsibility, taking great care in looking after our pony visitor and demonstrating a real sense of pride in their role. It was a truly special experience and one that the children will not forget.
Music has also been a real highlight this term. We were incredibly proud of the children who took part in Lancashire Sings!, joining with pupils from St. Francis and other local schools. Learning 12 songs and performing together was a fantastic achievement—the sound was truly incredible and a wonderful celebration of teamwork and confidence.
A special mention must also go to our Year 6 pupils, who approached their SATs with determination and maturity. We are very proud of their efforts. To celebrate the end of the tests, they enjoyed a well-deserved, comfy film afternoon—complete with plenty of snacks… including, most memorably, a block of cheese!
As always, these experiences are only possible because of the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the strong partnerships we have within our community.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to our final half term, with lots planned for the children!
