🌞 Sunshine, Smiles and Success: A Wonderful Summer Term at St Mary's 🌞

As we reach the end of another fantastic school year, it is the perfect time to reflect on the many experiences, achievements and special memories that have made this summer term so memorable at St Mary's. From exciting educational visits and outdoor adventures to fundraising, sporting success and celebrations of learning, our children have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and joy.

🌱 Acorn Class (Pre-School & Reception)

Acorn Class have enjoyed a wonderful final half term together, making the most of every opportunity to learn, play and celebrate. The children showed fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork during Sports Day, giving their very best in every event.

They have also been busy developing their storytelling and writing skills through their work on traditional tales, producing some wonderful pieces of writing inspired by familiar characters and adventures. It has been fantastic to see how much confidence, independence and creativity they have developed throughout the year.

To celebrate their final summer in Acorns, the children enjoyed a special morning of water play, laughter and friendship in the sunshine. The celebrations were made even sweeter with delicious ice cream treats kindly provided by Mrs Gornall, Mrs Byrne and Anne Darbyshire (Charlie and Anna's Grandma). It was a lovely way to create lasting memories before the children move on to their next exciting chapter.

🌸 Blossom Class (Years 1 & 2)

What a fantastic half term Blossom Class have had!

The children stepped back in time during their visit to Fleetwood Museum, where they discovered what life was like in the Victorian era and learned how families enjoyed a day at the seaside many years ago.

Reading was at the heart of our PyjamaRama Day, with children coming to school in their pyjamas, sharing favourite stories with friends and writing thoughtful book reviews. The class also welcomed the RNLI, who taught them vital water safety messages. The children can now confidently remember the four key steps: Stop, Stay Together, Float and Call 999.

Sports Day was another highlight, with every child demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination. From start to finish, it has been a busy and joyful half term, packed with sunshine, smiles and success.

🌳 Oak Class (Key Stage 2)

Oak Class have rounded off the year with a range of exciting opportunities that have truly brought learning to life.

Their visit to Abbeystead Estate provided a fantastic outdoor learning experience, where the children thrived in the natural environment while developing their teamwork, problem-solving and resilience skills. The visit was such a success that we are already looking forward to returning in the Autumn Term.

The children also enjoyed a visit to Liverpool World Museum, where they were particularly fascinated by the Ancient Egypt galleries. Seeing artefacts and learning about ancient civilisations first-hand inspired plenty of curiosity and discussion.

Alongside their learning, Oak Class have worked incredibly hard to support the North West Air Ambulance. Through earning badges, learning about the vital work of the charity, creating digital and handmade posters, and raising awareness within the community, the children have shown real commitment to a worthy cause.

Their fundraising day, supported by Fleetwood Town Community Trust, saw pupils wearing blue and yellow and taking part in exciting rescue mission activities. We are delighted that they raised nearly £100 for the charity while learning about the importance of supporting life-saving services in our region.

We also managed to squeeze in a band practice with St. Francis School, although our collaboration concert was cancelled due to the weather - we look forward to rescheduling that in the new academic year!

🎓 A Special Farewell to Our Year 6 Leavers

One of the highlights of the term was celebrating our Year 6 pupils as they prepared to move on to the next stage of their education.

The children enjoyed a wonderful send-off, beginning with a special Leavers' Assembly and Mass where we reflected on their time at St Mary's and celebrated the many ways they have contributed to our school family. It was a touching occasion filled with happy memories, laughter and a few tears.

The celebrations continued with a trip to The Flower Bowl, where they enjoyed a round of golf followed by a well-earned ice cream. It was the perfect opportunity for the children to spend time together, relax and create some final memories of their time at St Mary's. A particular highlight was the water fight and they got their chance to teach the class for a day - in Year 6 takeover days!

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and know they will carry the values, friendships and experiences gained at St Mary's with them as they begin their new adventures.

💙 Thank You for a Wonderful Year

As another successful year comes to an end, I would like to thank our wonderful pupils for their hard work, kindness and enthusiasm. Thank you also to our dedicated staff, governors, parish community and all our parents and carers for the support you give to our school.

This year has been filled with learning, friendship, faith, laughter and achievement. Whether through outdoor adventures, fundraising, sporting events, educational visits or everyday classroom successes, our children have continued to make us proud.

We wish all our families a happy, safe and restful summer holiday and look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year at St Mary's.
